With winter just around the corner, it’s time to map out your snowy Sunriver vacation. Whether you’re skiing at Mt. Bachelor, snowshoeing through the forest, or zipping through the trees on a snowmobile, there are plenty of winter activities in the greater Sunriver area to enjoy the snowy season.
Snowshoeing and Sledding
If you want to play in the snow with family and friends or wander through Central Oregon’s beautiful landscape with snowshoes, our recommendation is taking a quick trip to the Wanoga Sno-Park and Snow Play Area. Less than 30 minutes from Sunriver, this sno-park is perfect for all sorts of easy, outdoor fun during this time of year. Mt. Bachelor Winter Sports
Mt. Bachelor is approximately 20 minutes from Sunriver and provides both Alpine & Nordic trails for all ages and levels of experience. Once there, you’ll find an activity for every member of your family (skiing, snowboarding, and more). Mom and Dad can hit the slopes while the young ones hang out in the warmth with the Mt. Bachelor childcare program. If your kiddos are a bit older and feeling adventurous, Mt. Bachelor provides ski and snowboard lessons for ages starting at just four years old. If you didn’t bring your own gear, the mountain has you covered with its equipment rental program.

Snowmobiling
With more than 500 miles of groomed snowmobiling trails in the area, you’ll never be short of fun and adventure. The nearest snowmobiling trails are Wanoga and Dutchman Flat Sno-Parks, approximately 20 minutes from the Village. Bring your own machines or link up with Sunriver Toyhouse, who offer snowmobile rentals. As a guest of Village Properties at Sunriver, you will receive 15% off their rentals.
Dog Sledding at Mt. Bachelor
Enjoy a thrilling ride in a state-of-the-art Iditarod Sled as it’s pulled by twelve huskies. Trail of Dreams is operated and owned by Jerry Scdoris and his daughter Rachael. Riding with their athletic team of dogs is a unique and majestic experience. Imagine gliding over the snow and taking in the sights of Central Oregon from the comfort of an Iditarod Dog Sled.

There are a variety of trips available, from a 10-minute children’s trip to a marathon trip up to Elk Lake. This adventure is very popular in the area, so make your reservations early!
