  • Rides are fully outdoors and will expose you to weather, including sunlight, wind, rain, etc. Please dress accordingly with hats, sunscreen, protective clothing, etc.
  • The weight limit to ride is 220 lbs in order to ensure the horses’ health and safety.

Pony Rides

Offered daily when operating, this 5-7 minute ride gives your little ones a taste of the wild side in a safe and controlled environment. Ponies are hand-led by stable personnel to ensure safety and fun. This offering is available to kids who are at least two years old and who weigh under 60 lbs.

Please note that reservations are not accepted for this offering, and it’s on a first-come, first-served basis. Visit their website for the most accurate operating times.

Corral Rides

Offered daily when operating, this equestrian experience allows beginners to become more comfortable while riding before hitting the trail. Horses are hand-led by stable staff while riders can enjoy. Please note that there is a weight limit of 220 lbs for their horses.

Corral rides can be offered for kids who exceed the pony ride qualifications. Unfortunately, the stable is unable put anyone under 6 years old on a big horse for safety reasons. If your little one is 6 or younger and under 60 lbs, a pony ride will be offered instead.

Couple riding in a horse-drawn sleigh

Winter Offerings

Offered Early December to Mid-February

Sunriver Trail Rides’ main attraction during the winter season is horse-drawn sleigh rides. Perfect for the holiday and romantic season, this activity is a Sunriver essential during this magical time of year.

A horse-drawn sleigh ride through a snowy meadow can really add to the holiday spirit and make your trip unforgettable. Treat your loved ones to this time-honoured holiday tradition. These Victorian vis-à-vis (open) sleigh rides will take you through the beautiful Meadows Golf Course.

Sleighs hold up to 4 adults and 2 children under 55 lbs. When you purchase a reservation, please keep in mind that you are purchasing whole sleigh rides, not individual tickets (so don’t purchase 4 sleighs for 4 people!)

Village Properties at Sunriver guests can get up to $250 reimbursed for sleigh ride costs during their stay! Visit our guest perks page to learn more.

Things to Keep In Mind:

  • Sunriver winters can get very cold and wet. Sleighs are open-top and open-air, and may expose you to these freezing and/or wet conditions (cold, rain, snow, sleet, etc.) You are heavily encouraged to bring layers, extra blankets, etc., so you can stay comfortable during the ride.
  • While snow often graces Sunriver during this winter operation period, it is not guaranteed. Sliegh rides can and will operate with or without snow, and last-minute cancellations for weather are not accepted.

Sunriver Trail Rides Off-Season

Sunriver Trail Rides closes its services between its winter and summer seasons to give its horses a well-earned break before transitioning to the next season’s offering. Their off-seasons often are:

  • Mid-February to early May
  • Mid-October to Early December

Be sure to visit their booking site for the most accurate information about their operating dates, as they shift from year to year.
