Blending bluegrass with elements of rock\, alternative\, psychedelic and improvisational music\, Yonder Mountain String Band brought their high-energy acoustic sound into rock n’ roll settings with tremendous success\, proving it was possible for a bluegrass band to not only exist but excel in a rock world\, without drums. The inroads they made created opportunities for like-minded acoustic bands to perform at festivals\, rock clubs\, theaters and stadiums previously considered off-limits for string bands.

Experience the challenge of the Rock Wall\, then refuel the family with some tasty food or sweet treats. Don’t forget to head over to the firefighters and police officers to see cool service vehicles and learn about their jobs before leaving. Bring the family out for some all-day fun that will be sure to create memories to last a lifetime. \nKid’s Day is free to attend\, and the activities are ticket-based with tickets costing $1 per ticket. \nPortions of the proceeds from Kid’s Day in May benefit nonprofit organizations in South Deschutes County. \n*All activities and offerings are subject to change due to staffing\, weather\, and other unforeseen circumstances.

The event’s finale\, Art Meets Wine “Live!”\, will be held on Saturday\, May 20\, at the SHARC in Sunriver. \n \nArt Meets Wine in the High Desert benefits the philanthropy program of the Sunriver Women’s Club (SRWC). The SRWC philanthropy program awards grants to local nonprofit agencies with the goal of providing a strong network of services that will improve the lives of the most vulnerable citizens in our south Deschutes County community.
